What has Nadine been up to?

4 days old and eyes have not opened yet.

It has been a while since I have really posted anything, but once you read why I think that you will totally understand. I have been hand-rearing cockatiel chicks since mid-April. My bonded adult pair laid a clutch of 5 eggs: only 4 hatched and only 3 survived.

But these three little birds have been time consuming! They needed to be fed by eye dropper every 2-3 hours, which meant that they came to work with me. They lived in increasingly larger boxes with a light to keep them warm.

Now that they are full feathered they have begun to fly and spend more time in the adult cage learning to eat a solid food diet. By the end of June they will be going to their new homes and forever families. I just hope that the new families take as good care of them as I did.
